Synopsis:

LOVE! THAT 4-LETTER WORD is a new musical comedy by
Deborah A. Vines that tells the story of a husband and wife team of therapists who, while caring for a menagerie of lovelorn individuals, can’t seem to heed their own advice. As the therapists struggle to keep their own relationship together (as well as everyone else’s!) LOVE! THAT 4-LETTER WORD shows us the many faces of “amore" and the challenges of being in (and OUT OF) love!

LOVE! THAT 4-LETTER WORD was staged for the first time ever at the 200-seat Firehouse Theater in Newburyport, MA. Through word of mouth, audiences grew larger with each performance (in spite of blistery winter weather and lots of snow). LOVE! enjoyed a financially successful run and broke box office records. Comments from theater goers, heard over and over, ranged from "I couldn't get the songs out of my head," "There's something in it for everyone," and "It was the best two hours I've ever spent" to "It's just as good, if not better than what I've seen on Broadway."

The following year, the show was booked as part of Bradford College’s Creative Art Series. It played in Bradford’s 500-seat theater, and again broke box office records. In the Summer of 2008 Love! once again hit the stage, this time at the Algonquin Theater as an Equity Showcase. A stellar cast and great audiences helped to provide further feedback regarding the direction of the piece. Vines has continued to develop both the lyrics and the book and is ready to unveil the further refined production to regional audiences around the country.
A CD sampler of 4 of the songs from LOVE! (complete with new orchestrations and arrangements!) was recorded in this Spring at Spin Recording Studios in LIC, NY (http://www.spinmusicstudios.com/). The producers have now decided to release LOVE! THAT 4-LETTER WORD for licensing and production to regional theatres across the country, as well as community and college theatres. The story and music will appeal to all ages, and offers terrific opportunity for innovative, cutting-edge choreography and a fun night out!
